Olivier Papon from Seolyzer, a log analysis toolset, reported the other week that Google appeared to slow or stop crawling the majority of the web between around November 11 and November 17th. I did ask Google about this however have yet to hear back. It seems Googlebot is back at the crawling business now but we are unsure what failed or if something did go wrong.Olivier published on Twitter on November 15th about this saying “Googlebot is on strike! Googlebot has considerably decreased its crawl activity on numerous big websites since November 11 at 6PM (GMT).” Lots of others stated they discovered the same thing. I emailed Google about it and they said they would return to me but I didnt truly hear back.John Mueller of Google did tweet that “Weve been looking into it.” I have actually not heard anything else from Google, yet. Then on November 18th, Olivier stated “Googlebot is back! Googlebot came back as he left, at a particular time: November 17 at 8PM.” He shared this chart revealing how Googlebot went away and returned: I personally went through lots of crawl stats reports in Google Search Console to confirm it throughout the week. I d state 90% or more of those who I checked, showed absolutely no dip in crawl activity. If there was a pattern, that is with the exception of some but I am not sure. Here is one sample chart revealing the dip in crawl activity. Some others observed this too: & #x 1f916; #SEO – Crawl Rate Fixed & #x 1f916; & #x 1f538; It looks like the recent Googlebot crawl rate concern which we dealt with earlier has been repaired now.:-RRB- pic.twitter.com/AXUeEDmzNZ— Praveen Sharma (@MusingPraveen) November 22, 2021 Again, I have no confirmation from Google yet on what this issue was, the number of websites were impacted and how they may have been impacted. You can click through to these tweet listed below to see more information: & #x 1f525; Googlebot is back! & #x 1f605; Googlebot returned as he left, at a particular time: November 17 at 8PM.
